The Wallsend community has had a big win following a campaign for extra resources at the Wallsend Post Office.
I received several complaints about the long wait times at Wallsend Post Office. Residents say they are waiting over half an hour to be served, and some even turned away because staff don’t have time or capacity to respond to increased customer needs.
Last week I took my community’s fight to the floor of Parliament in Canberra to highlight the concerning number of reports I had received.
I am pleased that following this and after also raising the issue directly with Australia Post, they have now confirmed an extra team member has been employed to take some of the load off current staff.
Australia Post are also in negotiations to install a bank of Parcel Lockers at Wallsend Village Shopping Centre, to provide customers with an additional convenient way to collect parcels.
I’d like to thank my community for raising this issue with me.
